Juliana Burdick

Juliana Burdick has made Baltimore, MD her home since 2011. Originally from Bedford, NY, she came to Baltimore to earn her Master's Degree in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins, where she had the pleasure of studying under the tutelage of Steven Rainbolt.

ABOUT JULIANA AS A VOCALIST:
She is a soprano with a warm, lyric voice, which she employs to perform both solo and ensemble works in opera, art song, and new vocal music of the 21st Century. She has been recognized for "her musicianship, beautiful voice, and lovely sweetness on the stage." Most recently she premiered a new work entitled Exhortation, by Robert Pound, a student of Milton Babbitt. In May 2012 Juliana was featured in the world premiere of Radiant Maidens, a mini-opera by Michael Rickelton, with the Peabody Opera Department. In April 2012 she placed second at the NATS Regional Competition in the advanced college women’s category and was winner of the NATS Division 9 Competition in the senior women’s category, in 2010. In the fall of 2011 she played the role of Miranda in the world premiere of Ariel’s Tempest, an opera by Douglas Allan Buchanan, with the Peabody Opera Outreach Program. 

ABOUT JULIANA AS A VOICE & PIANO INSTRUCTOR:
Juliana has been teaching music lessons in the Baltimore area since her graduation from The Peabody Institute in 2013 and is now thrilled running her own teaching studio (SongBurd Music Studio - since September 2017). Juliana has a true passion for teaching, realizing the joy and value of music education for both kids and adults. She strives to help students discover and nurture their talents and passion for music.

"As a voice and piano instructor, I aim to provide quality music education to kids, teenagers, and adults of the Federal Hill community and surrounding Baltimore area. I strive to make lessons a supportive and encouraging environment for students to explore and appreciate music and learn the concepts and tools they require for their personal music-related goals."
